Jeep Cherokee Review

Written By: admin - Aug• 01•14

Most people do not actually use their SUV’s for off-roading purposes. Most SUV’s never leave the road. However, that hasn’t put a damper on the popularity of these vehicles, and Jeep’s Cherokee is one of the few vehicles that could actually be used for serious off-roading purposes.

Jeep is a brand name that has become synonymous with durability and reliability. Jeep does not make dainty or prim and proper vehicles. The company has produced a long line of rugged automobiles. Today, there is a lot of competition centered on producing the roughest and toughest off-roader with the Cherokee slugging mud with the best of them. Jeep Cherokee’s have a huge marketing audience from farmers to mothers to everyone in between this vehicle appeals to a wide variety of buyers. The Cherokee can be used for a diverse range of tasks, and its versatility is a huge part of its appeal. It can be used for work or play and still transports families through everyday activities from grocery shopping to soccer practice.Diesel versions of these 4×4 are less expensive to run than their petrol counterparts, but even the diesel variant is expensive to fuel because this is a very thirsty vehicle.

 Practicality

The Cherokee is an expensive vehicle to purchase and run. It is a thirsty gas guzzler regardless of which engine you opt for. This vehicle is a costly investment and not a good idea for buyers on a tight budget. For being such a large vehicle the Cherokee provides limited cabin space. Front passengers have more than adequate space, but rear passengers are not quite as fortunate and limited legroom may cause some discomfort for rear passengers over a prolonged period of time. The Cherokee’s fascia mirrors the rest of the vehicle. Simple and uncomplicated. The controls and dials are easy to use and logically placed. The column stalks may take some time to adjust to, but for the most part everything is where you would expect it to be. The Jeep Cherokee’s seats are large and supportive, and the Cherokee does a good job of minimizing road and wind noise. It does deliver somewhat of a rough ride due to its off-roading nature. To access the Cherokee there is a significant step-up into the cabin. It is also a reach to load and unload anything from the back of the truck as well. The tail gate door opens out and not up and that could pose problems for some. Parking the Cherokee can be a chore. Rearward vision is limited and the vehicles size poses its own set of challenges. The car is equipped with plastic bumpers and should help to minimize damage to the vehicle while learning to park it.

Life Style

The Cherokee handles best off of the road, but when driven on-road it is important to take it slow and easy for a safer, smoother ride. The steering can be a little difficult, and the ride a little choppy. The diesel motor in particular is more difficult to push hard and get a smooth ride in return. It’s a different story off-road as this Jeep handles the toughest, muddiest, and slipperiest terrain with ease, and the diesel variant feels unstoppable. The Jeep Cherokee would make a great family car as far as space is concerned and dealing with the challenges that family life presents. Children will have no problem getting comfortable in the back, although adults might not find it near as comfortable. The car also gets poor fuel economy and the fuel alone will be a big investment for families. The Cherokee would not be a wise choice for new drivers. The vehicle itself is rather large, and expensive to run and insure. It would also be difficult to navigate around town for a new driver. New drivers would probably find the Cherokee very difficult to park as well. Image isn’t a problem for the Cherokee because it carries the Jeep name. It has many competitors but is usually more sought out than any of its Japanese competitors. Build quality is good and Jeep’s are known for reliability.

 Security and Safety

The Cherokee comes standard with remote central locking, a Thatcham Category One alarm system, an immobiliser device, and visible vehicle identification numbers. The Cherokee is a very desirable expensive vehicle and it is not surprising that the company has taken such thorough security measures. Safety features include ABS braking, driver and passenger airbags, and side impact protection. In a vehicle of this price it is surprising that the safety kit is not more impressive.

 The Finishing Touches

The Cherokee offers a standard stereo unit with a radio and single CD player. Steering wheel-mounted controls of all the basic functions are available for the driver’s convenience. Higher-end models offer system upgrades. Bright colours are more complimentary on the Cherokee’s exterior. The Cherokee’s basic and durable interior design is good for both growing families and using the Cherokee as a work vehicle. It isn’t fancy, but it is durable.

 Summary

This 4X4 is very accomplished off the road, and on the motorways, but it delivers a very rough ride around town. Its stylish exterior and excellent off-roading abilities make it a very popular vehicle despite its on-road short-comings.

Audi A4 Review

Written By: admin - Aug• 01•14

Audi’s Compact executive A4 has developed quite a loyal following. With a superbly built cabin, great petrol and diesel engine options, and an overhauled chassis Audi fans can’t resist the sporty A4. The A4’s road presence is sophisticated and sporty. The cars corporate grill is striking and hard to miss. The Audi A4 tends to appeal to owners who are more concerned with a stylish image and good looks than the overall driving experience. The A4 has a superb build quality and several engine options are available. The Audi A4 tends to appeal to more mature drivers and gives the buyer a feasible option over Mercedes and BMW.The A4 displays a sporting presence on the road and boasts slightly more room in certain areas than previous models. This Audi offers the driver a very controlled ride, and comes with many optional add-ons. For instance, the Quattro four-wheel drive system is an option geared toward delivering a more secure and exhilarating ride. With all things considered, the Audi A4 could possibly be the best choice of cars in the compact executive market. It has managed to hold its own with the competition in performance, style, reliability, and price.

 Practicality

The A4 is not the least expensive compact in the executive market. Once the buyer adds on a few upgrades, the price quickly rises. The A4  has a great resell value, servicing and maintenance can be costly, and the diesel engine option will help save on fuel costs. Cabin space in the A4 is adequate. Front passengers have plenty of head and leg room. This Audi offers rear passengers plenty of head and legroom as well. Rear passengers are not as cramped as they had been in previous models. Audi has a talent for making clear, stylish and functional controls. The A4 is a direct reflection of that talent. The controls are large and located in practical convenient places. The stereo system is simple to use and steering wheel controls have been added for the driver’s convenience. The A4 is comfortable to drive and passengers enjoy low cabin noise while the car is being driven at modest speeds. However, an increase in speed results in an increase in engine and road noises. The car accommodates passengers of average build comfortably in both the front and rear seats. Gaining access to the A4 is not a problem for front seat passengers. The rear seat has a smaller opening and rear riding passengers must be agile enough to gain access. The A4 provides good forward, rear, and side visibility. Parking this car is not a difficult task. Parking is made even easier by the A4’s feather-light steering. The only difficulty associated with parking this vehicle is if a driver is unfamiliar with the car it can be challenging to judge where the boot ends.

 Life Style

The A4 has a lot of driver appeal. The front-wheel drive is surprisingly easy to steer, and thanks to the many underbody improvements the car turns and handles well. In the four-wheel version the A4 brags impressive grip levels, and handling as well. The diesel engine option offers buyers savings at the fuel pump, but the A4’s advanced 2.0 litre FSI turbo motor is not disappointing either. The A4 also has good family appeal. It’s a practical, well-built, quality car. It is capable of carrying out family related activities, and carrying modest cargo. There are many positive safety features designed to make the A4 a safe ride. Leather upholstery is not advised for families with small children. The A4 is an expensive car, but if a new driver could afford it, it might be a good choice. This is an easy car to drive, and has great all around visibility. The A4 isn’t too large and it doesn’t sit too low to the ground, so parking is a fairly simple task. Audi has upheld their high class image with the A4. The quality build, and flawless finish continues the tradition. Audi has combined sophistication and simplicity together and have successfully held buyers attention.

 Security and Safety

The Audi A4 comes with all of the standard security features, remote controlled locking, and a Thatcham Category One anti-theft system. The cars VIN is prominently displayed from the outside as an extra deterrent. The A4 is a reasonably safe car. It comes equipped with twin, side, front, and curtain airbags for passenger safety. Other safety features include, ABS, traction control, and electronic brake distribution. There are additional safety upgrades available for additional costs.

 The Finishing Touches

The A4’s standard stereo system is somewhat disappointing. It comes with a stereo/cassette combination. The sound quality is satisfactory, but the buyer will probably opt for an upgrade. There are other stereo options available that include CD players, DVD players, sat-nav system, etc. Most colors look good on the Audi, but the A4 looks great in silver, blues, and reds. Reds really draw attention to the cars grille. Dark colored cloth or leather in the interior compliments most exterior colors.

 Summary

The Audi A4 has superior exterior looks and style, and an improved chassis. The new bold grille really sets it apart from previous models. The A4’s over all ability and quality in many ways surpasses some of the leading competitors.

MOT and Service Savings

Written By: admin - Mar• 20•13

Driving is an expensive aspect of everyday modern life. Cars themselves cost a lot of money and there are plenty of additional costs which we must pay in order for it to be legal for us to take to the roads.

There is insurance and road tax to pay for, not to mention fuel – for which the price seems to be constantly rising. Evidently, saving money on driving is a difficult task. The obvious option is to trade in your Range Rover Sport and buy something smaller like a used Toyota Auris. It will be cheaper to buy initially and the smaller engine will equate to less trips to the petrol station.

But what about saving money on your MOT and Servicing?

The standard protocol for most of us is to take our car down the local garage every year and accept the first price we are quoted for a service or an MOT without questioning it. There seems to be no other option, but how are you to know whether you are paying the right price or whether you can get the same done for cheaper elsewhere?

Well recently there really hasn’t been a definitive answer to that question, but thanks to leading UK automotive site BuyYourCar.co.uk, all of that is about to change.

They have introduced a new service and MOT centre comparison site which allows users to input the make and model of their vehicle along with the area in which they live. Within seconds a list of centres and garages are displayed and sorted by proximity to the postcode. The listings also include comprehensive pricing structures for each garage.

The site couldn’t be easier to use and it enables motorists to find the best deal in their area in a matter of minutes. Considering that MOTs and services are generally annual occurrences, it could save you £££s for years to come.

Drug Cannon Car

Written By: admin - Mar• 20•13

We’ve seen some pretty odd customisations in our time from the mandatory spoiler on a used Seat Ibiza or suicide doors on a Hyundai Trajet, but this one most definitely takes the biscuit. The car in question appears to be a Dodge Ram 50 pickup, and the owner has fitted a cannon into the trucks bed.

The cannon worked through a connection to the engine which builds up air pressure in order to launch up to 13 kilos of marijuana in one blast. Apparently it was being used to fire the drugs over the Mexican border, into America where presumably, some rapscallion will be waiting to retrieve the merchandise. The car has now been seized by the Mexicali police. Don’t expect to find the cannon on any car part sites just yet, as we are not sure that it is in line with certain health and safety regulations.drugcannon

We also can’t imagine that it would go down to well at any servicing garages, and you may struggle to pass your MoT.
